Social bookmarking is the form of saving certain web sites on your computer instead of having to file share your web sites. It can be used as a form of privacy and social bookmarking is something easily used. It can be helped to re direct you to the site you were on from a previous time right away. The web sites are saved through, “tags” instead of traditional web site file folders. Social bookmarking has been set back to April of 1996 with the beginning or launch of, “iList”. This came with features of private and public bookmarking. Advantages of social bookmarking are that it is the same as a search engine or at least linked to it. It is considered an automatic resource locator. Disadvantages of social bookmarking is that is can be confusing due to that if you save the site under wrong “grammar words” it can be linked back to the wrong site, or, could have unclear tags such as, “cheddar, or etc”. Teacher use social bookmarking when it comes to teachings. They save sites to show their students during classroom discussions or to be used during projects or homework assignments.
