Google sites are something that allows you to have available contact through the web, through your own sites. Google sites are not like blogging, even though they are compared to blogging. Google sites are your own place where you control if or who can edit or not edit the contact posted on that specific site. You do not have to install anything to be able to create your own Google site. Small offices benefit from Google sites because it allows them to completely have control of their own site; this is always good for every company especially small ones. It is benefited to small companies because it has low cost and easy advertisement. Just linking to sites.google.com it easy because it shows you a quick tutorial if wished, and can be easily created. Starting last year, Google docs and Google sites became quite popular to the teaching world. Teachers use Google sites as the main central website for their class and class’ projects. Teachers from grade K through grade 12 use Google sites to maintain class projects, homework, in class assignments and something class trips. It is an easy way to create something to document anything that has happened or something that teachers would like for their students to learn from or to be able to quickly obtain for any form of homework or project help.

Google docs are linked to the popular web site search engine, www.google.com. A Google doc is form of spread sheet or word processor that is offered by Google. It allows people to create and edit real word documents while discussing with real time other people. Google docs started off of two web based site products. These products are, Writely and Google spreadsheets, and launched in August of 2005. Google docs has expanded broadly throughout time and is even accessed via mail, or through the mobile devices at hand. Google docs is an easy at use hand program and even allows or gives you a brief tour to understanding the program. Teachers in today’s schooling use Google docs because it is an easy way to set up a presentation or document without having to download anything to a computer. Google docs help promote peer and group work editing skills. In October of 2007, Google docs held a program called, “Global warming students speak out”. It invited teachers and students to collectively join together to brainstorm ideas or opinions on the term global warming. They wanted people (students and teachers) to speak out and then to hear out on other teacher and students opinions on their opinions.

Social bookmarking is the form of saving certain web sites on your computer instead of having to file share your web sites. It can be used as a form of privacy and social bookmarking is something easily used. It can be helped to re direct you to the site you were on from a previous time right away. The web sites are saved through, “tags” instead of traditional web site file folders. Social bookmarking has been set back to April of 1996 with the beginning or launch of, “iList”. This came with features of private and public bookmarking. Advantages of social bookmarking are that it is the same as a search engine or at least linked to it. It is considered an automatic resource locator. Disadvantages of social bookmarking is that is can be confusing due to that if you save the site under wrong “grammar words” it can be linked back to the wrong site, or, could have unclear tags such as, “cheddar, or etc”. Teacher use social bookmarking when it comes to teachings. They save sites to show their students during classroom discussions or to be used during projects or homework assignments.

Social media is sometimes described as a web site based of communication. It is a site where people post pictures, share contact, and gossip or talk about common topics. Myspace, Facebook, Friendster, etc are common sites used for social media in today’s society. Social media is controlled by the people. Social is the interaction of society through the form of speaking, or anything, and media is a discussion. Social media is represented through web sites, magazines, television and much more. Companies mainly use social media as an advertised based, to sell their products. It is sometimes used to get a story across, such as the new flu, H1N1 or swine flu it is sometimes called. Some advantages to social media is the contact of other people, to get thoughts out through blogging, or sometimes just to read up certain events. The disadvantages of social media are, a lot of spam, or viruses can be caused. People can tend to read up on the wrong things, or topics. One never wishes to believe what they read on the internet without a reliable source. Teachers use social media through class room discussions, if it relates to the topic being taught or to read up on certain scenarios happening in today’s world. Reading up on posted articles, blogs, or anything else can be helped.

Social networking is group of individuals grouped together in specific groups. Like small neighborhoods, or communities. With social networking it is compared to actually person contact. The internet though is popular with social contact or networking because people go on the internet to contact people unreachable or to meet new people as well. Some advantages to social networking is you’re able to contact a person from another town, state, or country easily. Without having to rely on a sent letter, or any other form of postal mail, and some disadvantages are that there can be chance of getting viruses, or anything else on your computer. Who invented social networking? In 1995, Steward Brand and Larry Brilliant found a company called, “WELL”. This site was considered to be the first social networking site. Social networking has been expanded through, Myspace, Facebook, and much more. Teachers sometimes have contacted their students through email, myspace, and facebook. Now, teachers are considered banned to contact their students through it though.

Podcasting is simple explained item, a podcast is a series of audio or video files that are distributed over the Internet. It is something that daily people use to out-post their opinions or contact people through. Podcasting is used with television, radios, and through out the media. Pod casts are technologies, listen to discussions, and continuously learn great way to stay informed about web design news, learn about emerging. Podcasting is useful for a learning capability, something to listen to about the news, weather, traffic, or just to listen to learn. Learn about anything from the Web, to typical advancement. A teaching senario is based off a seventh-grade classroom project. In Long fellow Middle school in Wisconsin, the teacher has the students set up a project through a series of podcast and post is on the itunes Media store, for people to listen to. The students had many viewers through their posts. "Their audience has moved to the entire world," said Jeanne Halderson, the seventh grade middle school teacher who supervised all the podcasting. "The students find that exciting. It's a lot more motivating to write something that the whole world can hear, rather than just something for a teacher to put a grade on." Podcasting has become quite popular, itunes is showing more than 400 podcasts posted from classrooms from k-grade 12. It's amazing how this has all expanded!

Online photo sharing is something that is quite popular, it is actually a Web site used to store and share photos. People or users upload their pictures to the site, which are then stored on the server and made available to friends and family on personal Web pages. One of the earliest photo sharing sites of Ofoto, which started in 1999, and than later acquired by Kodak in 2001, (Web, free dictionary). Online photo sharing can be useful by that it's easily accessed. It's a Web site that can be shared by all friends and family, and isn't quite difficult. It's easy to print the pictures in any way you wish, and to share via personal with anyone you wish, instead of having to e-mail or send by regular mail. Also, photo sharing is used when it comes to student projects, sharing photos with classmates or faculty. And for anything when it comes to projects, homework, learing, teaching, etc. Teacher senarios or example of online photo sharing is expanding. Here is one; using the online photo sharing site Flickr, a science class could access plenty of pictures, relating to their class of studies, and be able to set up examples for a project, homework assignment, or study secession.
